Head of Storage & Compute Infrastructure - AI/ML, Apple

Reza Shiftehfar is currently the Head of Storage & Compute Infrastructure at Apple AI/ML. His teams provide core infrastructure for all other engineering teams. This includes data transfer as a service, compute as a service, storage as a service and Hadoop data platform. His team operates in both Cloud environments as well as on-premise datacenters and uses technologies such as Kubernetes, Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Apache Iceberg, Apache Kafka, Apache Hadoop, Trino, Apache Druid, Apache Superset,... Reza is one of the founding leads for moving Apple infrastructure from traditional on-premise data centers into the Cloud. Reza holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and had previously worked at Uber and Twitter on similar infrastructure & big data platforms.
